How Do I Get Involved?

Businesses

Types of Businesses

There are two areas of business that participate in the “Greetings!…from Debbie” program. They include 1) retail and service businesses, and 2) professional service providers.

Both of these business types can be involved in the “Greetings!…from Debbie” program, simply by hiring Debbie to deliver their message to the new resident.

Businesses can provide one or more promotional advertising products, and/or a combination of coupons for presentation to the new residents. In fact, the more unique or enticing the gifts are, the greater the chance of having these new residents become your long term customers.

Incentive and Promotional Items

This is the most important aspect of the “Greetings!…from Debbie” program. Participating businesses can give a simple piece of paper welcoming the newcomer into the community, or they can provide fun and exciting gifts and coupons that make the new resident want to patronize your business. Remember --- boring and ho-hum, or Fun and Exciting! Which would you prefer?

As for the type of promotional gifts and/or incentive coupons, we suggest that you present some type of advertising/promotional product that will have shelf life in their home. After the excitement of moving has worn off, your fun and exciting message still remains in their home as a constant reminder. In addition to promotional merchandise, it is highly recommended that you provide at least 2 – 3 incentive coupons that will lure the newcomer into your business.

The theory behind 2 – 3 coupons is a philosophy that once an individual visits the store three (3) times you have formed a favorable impression in the newcomers mind, and they will likely be repeat customers for a long time. That’s what the “Greetings!…from Debbie” service is all about – getting new customers into your business, or at least having them remembering your business when they need your product or service.

Follow-Up

Now that your business is participating in the “Greetings!…from Debbie” program your task is only half done. You have given the new resident information on your business, and Debbie has recommended they patronize your business, taking full advantage of your generous offer.

In many instances, the new resident will take advantage of your incentives. However, it is recommended that you be aggressive and make a personal contact with the new resident following Debbie’s visitation. This personal contact reinforces the fact that you truly welcome them to the community, and want a chance to get their business.
