Who We Are

This page introduces the Pelvit’s, as the founders of “Greetings!…from Debbie”.

“Greetings!…from Debbie” is a joint venture founded by the Pelvit’s, and is offered to you by Allen & Debbie Pelvit. This professional greeting service started in early 2002 and is sponsored by a variety of businesses and professionals in the community.

The following is a brief summary of the Pelvit’s background and experience:

Debbie Pelvit:

Debbie is the owner of the “Greetings!…from Debbie” program, and is the professional that personally meets and greets new residents in the communities we serve.

Debbie has worked as a professional cosmetologist for 15 years, prior to moving to Cloquet, Minnesota. For the next 17 years Debbie has developed skills in picture framing and matting. I addition to professionally assembling a variety of art gallery merchandise, Debbie has developed talents in home/interior decorating.

Throughout the past 30 years Debbie has worked for herself, and in early 2002 she began developing her professional greeting service.

Debbie currently works at Frames R US, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and officially meets and greets those moving into our communities. Debbie meets with newcomers in the privacy of their home, something that has seemed to almost disappear over time.

Allen Pelvit:

Allen is Debbie’s husband, and has worked in the chamber of commerce industry for over 20 years. Allen has promoted and developed communities, created new jobs, retained existing jobs, and developed programs and services for several business community. In fact, that’s how the “Greetings!…from Debbie” concept originated.

While working for the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce, in Ottumwa, Iowa, Allen worked with a local individual that had previously worked as a hostess for a welcome program. This individual fully explained the necessary ingredients for successfully operating a welcome program and Allen implemented a program at the Chamber in Ottumwa, one that has been in operation since 1998.

Allen & Debbie began thinking of developing such a program in Albert Lea, Minnesota in late 2001 and implemented it in early 2002. The program initially was targeted for only newcomers, but soon included the newly engaged. It became apparent that there was a need for a professional “Thank You!” service, and it was developed in the fall and offered in January of 2003.

Today, Debbie schedules the visitations and organizes the materials needed for each presentation. Debbie becomes extremely familiar with each community, and its character, personally addressing each new resident interests and needs, while thoroughly promoting each of her sponsors/participating businesses.

Allen is the business manager for “Greetings!…from Debbie” and is responsible for the recruitment of business and professional partnerships in each community, as wells as all aspects of managing the business. However, “Greetings!…from Debbie” is an equal partnership between both of the Pelvit’s.
